Activities

SWIMMING AND SAUNAING
Swimming and saunaing are an essential part of a cabin holiday. Relax in the sauna and watch boats gliding past in the beautiful Finnish archipelago or heading to Porvoo. You can swim in the peace and quiet from morning to night off the cabin’s own jetty. Swimming steps at the jetty make it easy to get in and out of the water. It is also possible to arrive at the jetty using your own boat, or invite others to visit by boat. The water is around 1.5 metres deep and you can tie the stern rope to the buoy. The villa’s hot tub is available to rent separately. Please see the additional services section.

BJURBÖLE SUMMER MARKET
During the summertime 15.6.-15.8. approx. 5km away there is a summer market on Fridays from 3pm-6pm. At the market you can buy locally sourced food, fish, sweets and ice cream, or enjoy a cup of coffee at the café.

FISH TO YOUR HEART’S CONTENT
The sea invites you to try your luck - will a perch, pike-perch, zander or bream bite? You can angle and ice fish as much as you like due to Everyman’s right in Finland. If you are planning more fishing, it’s worth paying the state’s fisheries management fee. Bring your own fishing equipment, but you can rent rods and worms as an additional service!

ROWING OR MOTORBOATING
There is a row boat docked at the cabin jetty that you can use for the duration of your stay. You might see swans, sea eagles, or grey herons, which all nest in the area. Dock at Porvoo to visit the summer market or enjoy the peace and quiet of our beautiful old city. Many people think the best thing about a cabin holiday is unhurried nature-watching. It is also possible to rent a motor boat for the duration of your stay.

YARD GAMES
The villa’s yard is large and suitable for playing various games. Games are available for guests to use (e.g. mölkky, croquet and badminton). There are outdoor lights equipped with a twilight switch in the front yard. A country road runs past at the rear of the villa’s back yard and car park, but causes no major inconvenience.

CYCLING IN THE LOCAL AREA
There is a tradition of boat building on the island of Kråkö, with more than 20 wooden boat builders on the island at its peak. Nowadays the tradition is becoming rare. There is a boat building museum on the island where you can book a separate visit if you wish. The nearby sand pit is a popular swimming spot for Porvoo residents and it is possible to spot grey herons and flying squirrels, which nest in the area. Don’t forget to bring your bike, as the terrain is perfect for cycling. The road that runs around the island is 7 kilometres long.

CROSS-COUNTRY AND DOWNHILL SKIING
Pack your skis and sledges for a winter holiday. You can ski directly from the yard onto the sea ice or nearby field. Depending on the sea ice, the entire archipelago area is within easy reach during the winter. Porvoo’s Kokonniemi downhill skiing centre is just 18km away by car. There are also some sledges for children in the garage.

SIGHTS, GOLF, CULTURE
Excellent day trip attractions include e.g. Porvoo’s old town, the Haikko spa, Helsinki, Loviisa, an 18-hole golf course at Virvikki, Porvoo Golf and Sea Golf Rönnäs, art exhibitions, Porvoo’s extensive array of restaurants and numerous other alternatives.

Porvoo is a beautiful and unique cultural town, with plenty to see and do throughout the year. Check the City of Porvoo’s events calendar
